Stewart and Busch get first call to the NASCAR trailer
by Charlie Turner
I'm Charlie Turner co-host of the syndicated, mostly NASCAR radio show On Pit Row. Thanks for stopping by OnPitRow.com and the Bench Racing with Steve and Charlie blog. Oh yeah, Steve is an idiot.

That didn’t take long at all. The Home Depot Toyota of Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch’s Miller Lite Dodge got together while jousting for position in Budweiser Shootout practice. The dispute continued into pit lane as Kurt repeatedly banged doors with Smoke and Tony stopped his car blocking the garage entrance to Busch.
“Come on down boys we need to talk” said NASCAR.
Both drivers reportedly left the trailer without comment. NASCAR VP of Corporate Communications, Jim Hunter had this to say….
“This is the NASCAR everybody fell in love with,” NASCAR Vice President, Corporate Communications Jim Hunter said following the incident. “Emotions run high.” more…
Jim Hunter will join us ON PIT ROW Tuesday February, 12. We get to ask him what happened in the trailer. Before that we all get to see how Brian France’s new/old NASCAR handles the first dust-up of 2008.

Boys will be boys, or so says France.
We’ll see. The “boy” who decided to ram someone under caution and on pit road I suspect won’t be ignored come Tuesday “fine day.”
As for the rest they probably will, and should, get away clean.
Actually, the bumping from the #2 was prior to pit road. There wasn’t anyone around, and no danger to anyone other than themselves.
Once on pit road, it was just blocking/positioning to “get the point across”. Last summer was much worse of a deal.
What I don’t agree with is using cars for retaliation. Crew members have to fix those, not the drivers. However, I will say that at least the #2 crew weren’t the only ones fixing sheet metal from the altercation.
I don’t know if a fine will be involved, but if there is it may very well go both ways. Points would be idiotic, as it’s a non-points event and there aren’t any points to be gained from it.
