Photos of Denny Hamlin’s burnout and Helluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 winners circle celebration Sunday at Michigan International Speedway. It was Hamlin’s first 2011 Sprint Cup Series victory, but it’s getting to be old hat at MIS. This is 3 out of 4 and I’ve been to them all.

Dale Earnhardt Jr has had a solid 2011 in NASCAR Sprint Cup. Many were picking Junior to win the Helluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 at MIS.
He looked good for much of the race until tagging the wall with about 20 laps to go. Not much apparent damage. But a tire must have cut and a few laps later, he smoked that wall again and that put a stamp of done on the #88 and probably half the TV audience.
Maybe next week. Oh wait, that’s a road course at Sonoma. I guess it’s Daytona. That could actually happen.

It’s a helluva good day in the Michigan Irish Hills. NASCAR Sprint Cup cars are practicing. The Nationwide Series guys just finished their first session. The ARCA cars qualified this morning. Life is good.
Most of the talk overheard this morning around the garage, in the media center and even on the TV coverage has been about probation and retaliation. Ironically, the haulers for Kevin Harvick’s #29 and the #18 of Kyle Busch are parked side-by-side in the Sprint Cup garage. Kind of funny.
Kyle was asked; “Have you not talked to Kevin Harvick since the NASCAR meeting at Dover?” “Correct” he answered.
Harvick just kind of snickers when the topic comes up.
Will something more happen. Bet on it.
And bet on the Fastest Fuel Mileage Chess Match in Michigan on Sunday. Full contact chess. Awesome.
