about the One and Done fantasy game
Welcome to the first ever weekly newsletter for the One and Done NASCAR fantasy race game from OnPitRow.com. You have probably already registered for the game, but if not, take 30 seconds to sign up now. By now, if you have signed up, your game dashboard is live. You can make your pick for the Daytona 500 now and have until Saturday at 4 PM ET to change your mind. We have intentionally tried to keep everything simple for the game. It is after all, the fantasy racing game for lazy fans. But if you have any problems, or suggestions for ways to make the interface better, email me at charlie@onpitrow.com. Thanks for playing. Have a blast. Charlie

race 1: the super bowl
As far as the One and Done game goes, the Daytona 500 doesn’t count for any more points than any other Sprint Cup event in the season. But it sure feels like it does. Ryan New man won this thing last year and Happy Harvick in 2007. But those wins didn’t exactly springboard those guys into any kind of consistent success for the remainder of the year. Maybe that makes the guys were real good for most of 2008, less likely to win the Great American Race. I mean, Derrick Cope won this thing once, ya know?
But that’s just me. Check out who the real experts like in the sidebar at the right. Read the great fantasy handicapping post by OnPitRow.com’s Chris Leone. Check out the driver’s horoscopes at Church of the Great Oval. Or just make a wild old guess. Have some fun with this. Talk some smack with your fellow One and Dunners. And let us know what you think about the game. on deck: california dreamin
Who knows what will happen at Auto Club Speedway in supposedly sunny – but lately, often rainy – California. Remember last year’s February race, when the track weeped rain well past midnight and the whole thing had to be finished the next day? Sucked, didn’t it? The fast two miler isn’t a favorite among the NASCAR internet community. The races are often parades of stretched out fields and long green flag runs. So pit work is important as much of the passing happens toff the track. And often, its a decision by the guy up on the box that makes the difference.
Hey, it’s what I do. It’s my plan, ya know? |
experts
Each week we will invite a group of NASCAR experts, of various levels of notoriety, to share with you whom they would pick in the One and Done NASCAR fantasy game. Author Jerry Wilson – the Diecast Dude - likes Jeff Gordon this week saying ” Reason – His drive in the Shootout showed his ‘tude is back, and his skills never left.”
![]() The house band for ON PIT ROW – the great Backstretch Boys – like a little Smoke – ” Tony Stewart because he’s a kinder, gentler person since he became an owner…not!” BTW…buy the CD! It’s GREAT RACING MUSIC and it’s ONLY $7! Marc Borland of the Full Throttle blog has a motive behind his pick” Tony “Smoke” Stewart: not because he’s “due” and not because of his obvious talent, but because I’m selfish, and Smoke winning the first time out in a new team would be GREAT blogging fodder.” Thunder Lounge’s Luke likes Mark Martin ” Because he’s got the horsepower and it’s about damn time” Luke has sponsored the “Most Improved Player Award”. Just don’t ask me what it takes to win. But if you do, you’ll win a custom blog design worth thousands. |

Now, anybody who’s ever played fantasy games with me could tell you – I may not be the guy you want to listen to, when it comes to picking winners in these things. But I’m leaning towards saving my Carl Edwards, Jimmy Johnson and Kyle Busch picks for later in the game. This looks more like a Jeff Burton or Denny Hamlin kind of race to me. Or maybe Junior. It could be Junior.
