So, how do I enter, you ask? Here’s how. In the comment section of this post, tell us your most memorable Earnhardt moment. You don’t have to be a fan of Senior. It could be your own favorite Earnhardt win or maybe the thing he did that so ticked you off, that you hated him from that moment on. Just tell us a story.
And here’s how you win. The folks at A & E Home Videos have provided us with five copies of the DALE EARNHARDT 10 GREATEST WINS DVD set. We’ll use our random drawing method to determine the five winners from the comments submitted. We will stop taking entries at 11:59 pm CST on Friday November 28, 2008. Good luck!

WHEN THE LITTLE GIRL GAVE HIM THE COIN AND HE PUT IT ON THE DASH OF HIS CAR; AND HE WON THE DAYTONA 500
How can there be any one thing?
The life of Dale Earnhardt spoke volumes of a man who pursued his dream, his calling - and made something out of it.
From the funny Chevrolet ads he made with Dale Jr., to that moment in ‘01, when hundreds of thousands of fans held their collective breath after the Daytona 500, waiting for an update from NASCAR on his condition.
The man, regardless of his on-track persona, personified generosity and intelligence and was a role model, a success story to look up to; to aspire by.
I can’t pick any one moment but his life, itself.
nothing much to say dale earnhardt sr was the greatest in the world
my picks for Dales greatest wins 1. 98 daytona win 2. brickyard 3.bristol win after spinning terry, just wanted rattle his cage 4.winston 500 win.5 pass in the grass.Dale will always be the greatest in my eyes, There will never be another like him !!!
It is really hard to just pick one memorable moment. I honor Dale for all that he did and accomplished in his life because he came up the hard way and appreciated all that he earned. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He went out every week and drove his heart out and that is what I appreciate about him the most, he loved to DRIVE!
There are so many great moments with Dale. My favorite has to be his Talladega win in 2000. Being a huge Earnhardt fan there was nothing that I believed he couldn’t do. He never gave up and we always could expect something miraculous from Dale. He showed everyone that you should never give up on him when he did the impossible by coming from 18 position to 1st in 5 laps. It was the most awesome run I have ever seen him make. Kenny Wallace and Joe Nemecheck got in behind him and it was like a freight train. Fantastic finish! Of course, my 2nd favorite would have to be his Daytona 500 win. It was a win that he deserved and needed, yet it had alluded him for 19 year. The respect everyone showed after the race says it all.
I began pulling for Dale in 1985 I guess. Cale had switched to a Ford and I ask my son (3 years old) who are we going to pull for? He had a T shirt that had Earnhardt on it that said Jean Machine and that was his reply “JEAN MACHINE”. I loved the way he drove. He was with out a doubt the best I ever saw. I also started racing Go-Karts that same year and Painted the kart Yellow and Blue and put a #3 on it and tried to do ever thing I ever saw him do. In 1989 the new kart was Black and silver. I won several championships with the number 3. My son and I met him in 1989 at a chevrolet deilership and my son gav him a picture of him and the kart. When he died I totaly lost intrest in racing and sold out. To me he was much more than a sports idol he was a way of life.
Great story Randy. Thanks for sharing it with us. I have a good friend who was a rabid Earnhardt-NASCAR fan and he too quit cold after Senior’s death. But he eventually came back. I hope you do too.
Thanks for commenting.
i have been going to daytona since 1994 and there have been many many stories on and off the track during the week leading up to these races-but the one i remember the most is the time i took my best friend down and his idol was “the intimidator”-well we just happened to be at the race where sr. flipped on on the superstretch-well we watched every tow truck coming back so as we could get a picture and lo and behold here comes dale driving the number 3 around turn 4 and the crowd went totally nuts-memorable experiance in itself-glad to have been a part of his day!
