I noticed two things during last Sunday’s broadcast of the Pocono 500. Fox’s Digger was nowhere to be found, and Bill Weber wasn’t so bad after all.
I wonder if the two are connected?
The TNT race booth combo of Weber, Wally Dallenbach and Kyle Petty did a nice job, I think. Now I don’t profess to be a student of such things, Like Daly Planet’s John Daly or On Pit Row’s Steve Wronkowicz. For one thing, I tend to fall asleep too often.
But I found myself more tolerant of little things that used to bother me about these guys, because none of them was having a make-believe conversation with a cartoon beaver. If Kyle starts talking to RaceBuddy, I’m out.
And this week, I get my NASCAR live and up close at Michigan International Speedway. I’ll just have to stay away from the Fox Sports souvenir trailer.

Charlie, your image may be reveling a true truth about Junior’s pit stop problems.
He’s been sliding thru his box as he passes over Digger’s grease spot.
LMAO Marc! It all makes perfect sense now!
Nice one Marc!
Charlie, is Fox and TNT one in the same?
I didn’t expect to see Digger once TNT took over.
James, Digger wasn’t there, thank goodness. But the souvie trailers will be.
I will take Bill Weber over Digger any day of the week. I couldn’t wait for TNT coverage to start, I can’t believe I said that but that’s how annoying that Digger is.
Nice “capture” of the decisive moment BethAnne.
I’m no fan of Weber either but I think he did do better than he’s done in the past. In the past he would ask some dumb questions or try to be goofy at times and that just didn’t work for him. I didn’t notice any of that on Sunday. He was professional the entire time and I don’t remember hearing any dumb questions from him so I think that he finally understands what it takes to be a good play by play man. He’s only been in that role for a few years so hee doesn’t have the experience at that role that Mike Joy does so I guess it just took him a little while to gain the experience needed for it. Hopefully Sunday wasn’t just a fluke. Hopefully Weber is that good for the rest of TNT’s races and if not, at least TNT doesn’t have that many races.
I’ll tell you another one I like listening to is Alan Bestwick.
Oh, and yeah…. I’m so glad to be done with Dumb Digger too!
I hate all the corny stuff Fox does. I love when Wendy sits down and has interviews with drivers/owners/crew, or does facility tours, etc.. I’d much rather see that, or good technical information provided by a member of a crew in their shop, etc..
Digger, “boogity”, and all of the other moronic things that Fox did was an insult to our intelligence. NFL, NBA, MLB, and/or NHL doesn’t feel the need to add sophmoric crap to televise professional sports. Now I can watch a race with the sound on without wanting to throw stuff at the TV.
Thank the good lord Digger is gone. I absolutely HATE digger and think it is moronic to subject us to “it”. I wrote FOX, but of course heard nothing back. Also, no more Boogity etc etc etc…another insult to my intelligence.
The guys on TNT could have just used a series of grunts and clicks and still sounded more intelligent than the clowns on FOX. As far as the idiotic cartoons and the “Booger, Booger ,Booger” at the start of every race you must consider the source, Waltrip is a moron-always was always will be.Jeff (melanoma)Hammond is as phony as a three dollar bill and what can I say about Larry Mac? at least he tries and his deal with TNT is at least right up his alley as he really does know his technical aspects. All in all I thank God that the FOX part of the season is over and I can watch the race without feeling the urge to vomit whenever D.W. speaks, oh and does D.W. stand for dimwit? just wondering.
Not to mention the beautiful camera work on TNT. I love it. I think they are way ahead of everyone else in the camera technology area.
