I am co-host of the syndicated radio show: ON PIT ROW. Charlie likes to call me an "idiot". I'm not an "idiot"; I just prefer not to let the facts get in the way of my opinions.

Kasey Kahne parlayed his popularity into a million bucks.

Kahne Most Popular All-Star WinnerKahne used the fan vote to gain entry into the Sprint Cup All-Star race. When Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin had engine problems with their experimental home shop power plants, Kahne was able to race off to a 2 second win over Roush-Fenway drivers Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth.

Kahne joins Michael Waltrip and Ryan Newman as the only drivers to win the All-Star race after racing their way in from the preliminary race.

Which leads us to this weeks BUZZ ON PIT ROW:

Did Kasey Kahne being voted into the All-Star race by the fans diminish his win?

We may use your answer ON PIT ROW Tuesday at 5-7pm ET. Tune in to listen live here.

Well, he didn’t exactly “race his way in” did he?

He was voted in, hardly a race unless he has more delegates to count than Hillary and Obama then it would be a race of a different color.

In direct answer to the question… no.

The fans placed him in the starting field, that’s where their influence stopped.

Everything else lays at the feet of Kahne and his crew chief.

    No.
He won didn’t he? That couldn’t diminish the race. It actually made the fan vote seem like a much better idea than it was when Martin Truex, Jr got voted in.

He was voted in by the fans which is one way to get into the All-Star race. He raced his way to the front to win the race. So I don’t see what all the hubbub is all about. I guess it’s just my opinion. At least it was better than last year’s racer who was voted in…I believe it was Kenny Wallace.

No. It solidified the value of fan input for future all star events

Thanks for the comments everyone. This is indeed an All-Star race and a race that is supposed to be FOR the fans. What a better way to thank fans than to give them input into the drivers in the field. He had a car that was obviously capable of competing and boy did he .

I agree that this a great thing–but lets not got over-NASCAR-board, as they tend to do-and start adding more vote ins.

I don’t know but for me, I mean, Kasey Kahne IS an all-star isn’t he? However he got in, he deserves to be in the All-Star race, in my mind. Winning the race validates that belief and the belief of the fans who voted for him.

Much as I like Kenny Wallace, I agree with Trixie, Kahne is a much more legit fan pick.

I would have enjoyed it if - as suggested by a caller on the “Wind Tunnel” All Star special - they would have allowed fans to vote one driver OUT of the race too. Any side bets as to who THAT would have been, Rowdy fans?

Let’s expand on that, Charlie. The fans vote someone from the Showdown in, and vote someone from the All-Star race out, but here is the twist: those two drivers compete for the spot in a 10-lap shootout with a mandatory pit stop. Winner gets in. Wouldn’t that be exciting as a prelude to the main event?

Make it a ten lap drifting competition and your on.

Hi Guys…..Better late than….. well, No!…. Kasey winning I feel gave the fans who voted him in a good sense of accomplishment and NASCAR needs some “Feel Good” wins…All-Star Race or not. We seem to be repeating last season with driver domination, just a different driver and a much less popular one at that.

    Happy Memorial Weekend Fella’s
