Trevor Bayne’s unexpected win in the Daytona 500 shows once again racing is a young mans sport.

As a fan of NASCAR racing the first driver I ever rooted for was LeeRoy Yarbrough in the late 60′s and early 70′s.  Through most of the 70′s after LeeRoy dropped out of the NASCAR world with mysterious ailments; I didn’t have an allegiance to any one driver until Bill Elliott came on the scene toward the end of that decade.

Elliott captured my attention because of his family run team out of Georgia when most NASCAR teams had already migrated to the area around Charlotte.  At the time there weren’t a lot of teams running Fords and I have always held an affinity for the brand.  So Bill, Dan and Ernie were MY guys.

I have remained an Elliott fan throughout his career even when he closed his team and went to drive for Ray Evernham and the resurrected Dodge factory effort.

When it was announce that Bill would drive for the Wood Brothers in a part time effort I believed in my heart, if not totally in my mind, that the combination could bring back the glory of a time gone by when David Pearson took the part time program and won races.  Pearson won races; he wasn’t interested in winning championships.  Championships were for guys like Richard Petty.

My hope for catching lightening in a bottle with the Wood Brothers-Bill Elliott combination kept lessening with every missed opportunity.  The Woods would enter Elliott in places that he had run well in the past; places like Atlanta.  The combination never seemed to work. Maybe the team wasn’t ready to win yet.

I was still surprised when the Woods elected to take Bill out of the car in late 2010 to give the displaced Bayne a one-off.  Bayne had been released earlier by Michael Walltrip Racing from his Nationwide Series ride. Needless to say he ran well enough at Texas, finishing a respectable seventeenth, to make the Woods have to make a decision for 2011.

The decision to part ways with Elliott and give Bayne the ride for 2011 obviously was a winner for both Bayne and the race team that hasn’t seen a win at Daytona since 1976.  One win does not a career make; but to take the iconic #21 to victory lane in only his second Sprint Cup race and just a day after his twenteth birthday could make the Wood Brothers seem like geniuses.

It may be way too early to proclaim a changing of the guard, but for this NASCAR fan it’s time to move on to a new phase in the sport we love.

2012,  I mean 2011 is a very special year, both Numerologically and Astrologically.

Are you curious about how your driver is going to do? Is Jimmie Johnson going to win again? How will Dale Jr. fare? Tony Stewart has already started his year a bit aggressively…Will Smoke be smoking hot in 2012? I mean, 2011? Will Brooklyn’s affect on new Daddy Ryan Newman change the way he drives? What about Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, and Carl Edwards?  Will they continue to drive as phenomenally, now that they have had to choose which series they will earn point in? Will the feuds continue?

I dare YOU to use my prediction’s in your Fantasy Racing.

I dare ME to remember to play.

I dare Charlie to beat me.

I dare Steve to prove he is not an Idiot.

I dare ALL the Stat guys to a challenge of accuracy.

Stats vs. ‘Scope’s.

2011, I mean 2010, brought us some of the most exciting racing in years. Will the changes in NASCAR rules, affect the excitement for the fans, or dampen it?  Will it be possible that actually winning races will matter?

We will be taking a look at all the full time NASCAR Driver’s for the first six months of the season tomorrow. I will also be looking at the year and make my predictions as to who may be the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion. I have to do it early, so no one can say I cheat. Oops. 2011. So far this year I am losing in the accuracy challenge. By a year. I was spot on last year…

Well, not quite. Only 97%.

It’s tough to be a Goddess. ~ Me.

NASCAR Astro-Predictions for Martinville

I looked at the scope’s for Martinsville the other day, and thought “No, that can’t be right”. I have been pretty grumpy this Full Moon, so I thought I will look in a day or so and do a more in-depth work up on them when I am in a better space. I did, looked deeper, no change.

The pertinent scope’s today do not belong to the Chase Contender’s, except for four.  Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart both have nearly identical ‘scope’s during the race. Both have Venus Square Mars, which brings , good feelings, assertiveness, aggression when needed, and focus. They both enter their 10th Houses, The House of Fame today. BUT…they both have some pretty rough aspects, most of which are strictly mental, so we may or may not see or hear those struggles.

Jimmie Johnson‘s scope is pretty rough. However Chad Knaus‘s aspect’s are perfect as usual. I expect to see Chad‘s magic today, along with a lot of frustration from Jimmie.

Kurt Busch‘s scope basically says “Get ‘Er DONE!” What else can I say? There is two tiny aspect’s that are negative that last for a few minute each, that could be issues, however, other than that I look for a pretty good finish if not a win for Kurt.

Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin both show impatience, temper and aggression. This could come out ok for them if they can keep focus. If not, I see them losing some points.

The last of the four really pertinent scope’s I see is Clint Boyer. Again there are a few small moments that could indicate a crash…but I look for a good day for Clint if that doesn’t happen.

Biffle‘s ‘scope is fair can’t say he is going to have the day he wants. But I was totally wrong last time with him and he won, so I am going to shush…:)

I am really not sure how to read Matt Kenseth‘s scope, because every aspect he has has to do with Love, as in the bunny and seal type. Not the sexually aggressiveness that can come from some Mars aspect’s. Just Venus…Venus everywhere. Hearts and Cupids.

KyBu doesn’t look great except for a very aggressive Mars square with Jupiter. Jeff Burton has a mediocre scope which I am learning means he mat have a top ten. **Or not.

Kevin Harvick entered a very strong transit, Sun in the 8th House this morning. This is the House of Money. $$$. It is in effect until the end of Nov, along with some other very good transits coming up in the next few weeks.

The Driver’s who show serious sign of winning are non- Chase contenders. Jamie MacMurray, Juan Pablo Montoya and Kasey Kahne all have great ‘scope’s. I am going to post a progressive outlook on Kasey Kahne this week. You will see a lot of synchronicity. I look forward to what’s coming up for him in 2011.

**Now the most important aspect of all, is mine.  My scope is crazy right now…so I “Officially” will let you know, that I have no idea what I am talking about where anything is concerned, for the next few weeks. You may not want to pay any attention at all.:)

Cheers!

I have been following – like many of you I hope – the most excellent coverage of the Pepsi Max 400 NASCAR weekend by Jerry Wilson aka The DieCast Dude. Always observant and insightful, here are a select few of Jerry’s tweets from the Friday driver press conferences.

DiecastDude @onpitrow Coming up, Jimmie Johnson. The aura of serene pending victory fills the air. #nascar

DiecastDude @onpitrow Jimmie Johnson is darn near giddy sounding. Confident without being cocky. #NASCAR

DiecastDude @onpitrow Jimmie Johnson banters with ease with the media. A man truly at peace with the situation.#NASCAR

DiecastDude @onpitrow @nateryan Was it just me or did JJ sound like the least tightly wound driver in the garage?#NASCAR

Now I know that Jerry is a California dude and all that. He may have an affinity for descriptions of laid-back-ness. But I really believe he’s onto the major factor of the 2010 Chase to the Sprint Cup.

If these NASCAR playoffs were match play golf, in say the Ryder Cup, Jimmie Johnson would have his match won before his opponent ever teed it up. Total psych job.

Or as Marilyn commented…

nascargang Sounds like he’s ready to take this race—RT @DiecastDude @onpitrow @nateryan Was it just me or did JJ sound (cont) http://tl.gd/6d0rvq

This race. And the next. What will we call the successor to the Drive for Five?

Maybe inevitable?

Here are the Driver’s with the most pertinent aspect’s affecting Loudon.

Jimmie Johnson, born September 17, 1975 ~ Virgo with Ascendant in Sagittarius, Moon in Aquarius.

Friday was Virgo Jimmie Johnson’s birthday, so most of his seriously good luck energies of that day should be waining. The major aspect that is affecting him today is an aspect which will be with him for several weeks, Mercury Square Neptune. This affects all of his communications. He may feel inclined to hold back to avoid a confrontation with someone. It is imperative that Jimmie avoid any form of misrepresentation or distortion of the truth, even if he thinks it might be politic to mislead someone. The other aspects affecting JJ today, during the race, is Moon Trine Mars. This is perfect in a competitive situation, as it give him stong assertive tendencies inside and out and nearly always will put him on top in a competitive situation, because of the focus and drive it gives.

Tony Stewart, born May 20, 1971 ~ Taurus with Ascendant in Leo, and Moon in Aries.

Tony has some conflicting aspect’s today which may be a good thing. One strong aspect he has during the race is Sun Conjunction Pluto. which signifies things that are broken and in need of repair. He also has Sun Trine Saturn, which signifies that responsibilities are easy for him, and he will work very hard, with a gritty resolve, and can accomplish much regardless of any negativity surrounding him. It takes a lot to overload his willingness to take charge.

Greg Biffle born December 23, 1969 ~ Capricorn with Ascendant in Pisces and Moon in Cancer.

Greg’s aspect’s today are as they are for the entire Chase. It’s all about the self confidence to succeed. Everything is in alignment for a win. He just needs to believe in himself. If he doesn’t, he will have mediocre finishes, and easily avaoiidable mistakes haunt him until the end of Oct. Sun Sextile Jupiter today gives him a strong ability to succeed, and Moon Conjunction Mars gives him the strength and aggression to push forward. All the other aspect’s in his chart during the race regard his confidence.

Carl Edwards, born August 15, 1979 ~ Leo with Ascendant in Libra, and Moon in Capricorn.

Moon Square Uranus is the pertinent aspect in Carl’s scope during the race. It is a wild affect, giving aggression, confidence and ability. It also tends to influence making decisions that are risky, over confident and irresponsible. It’s his choice.

Clint Boyer, born May 30, 1979 ~ Ascendant in Libra, and Moon in Capricorn

Clint has a near perfect scope with 10 different aspect’s affecting him during the race. The one that could cause an issue, Mars Square Moon could make him extremely irritable today with wild mood swings, wild enough to make him feel like he has crazy voices in his head, telling him conflicting things to do. I am so glad I am not him today. Hopefully, this being the first race of The Chase, he will be able to be strong enough to block his thoughts, and not let the aspect stress him out as it did in 2007. Clint being a Gemini…? This could be tough, as he always has two voices within as it is.

Kyle Busch May 2,1985 ~ Taurus. Ascendant in Leo, Moon in Libra.

Sorry buddy, your ‘scope sucks. I think I said that before. If you win it will be because of the other driver’s not so positive aspect’s or huge mistake by someone. Matt Kenseth,

Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton are have ‘scope’s that mean they will win well and easy, or they won’t. Too unclear to really say. Your Brother Kurt Busch has Sun Conjunction Venus as the main focus of his scope,. That mean it could be a good day to throw a party. Or win.

All the other contender’s for The Chase have mediocre ‘scope, nothing really standing out. Harvick’s scope is full of confusion. Denny Hamlin’s scope is all about dodging danger and staying in survival mode.
